Since ancient times, the design of water storage has been important in India's Temple architecture. To fulfil this objective, Holy Pond called “Pushkarani”, is built as part of Temple complex. The water in the “Pushkarini” is considered holy because of immense spiritual power and medicinal value attached to it. It is believed that, if one takes a holy dip in the holy water or “Teertham” contained in the “Pushkarini” , not only are sins washed away but also diseases are cured. Pushkarini is also used for offering prayers to God Surya (Sun God). We can see from the above various stages of renovation and rejuvenation of the Holy Pond.
